A Bit of History
The South Houston Concerned Citizens Coalition (SHCCC) is a dedicated group of residents and businesses working together to improve our neighborhood. Since its establishment, SHCCC has been instrumental in various community projects aimed at fostering a better living environment for the citizens of District K and a portion of District D.
The South Houston Concerned Citizens' Coalition (SHCCC) is an alliance of 25+ civic clubs and homeowners associations which was organized in 1993 under the name Central Southwest Concerned Citizens' Coalition. As the organization grew, the name was later changed to South Houston Concerned Citizens' Coalition.
The SHCCC held its first business development meeting in October of 1998 and also received its 501c(3) non-profit status the same year. The organization is primarily funded by tax-deductible contributions and membership dues.
The purpose of the organization is to work together as a group on projects to improve the welfare of the residents living in the subdivisions of the Coalition and its vicinity in the City of Houston, Texas. This includes working to improve the community through the promotion of urban design and beautification, crime reduction and public safety, economic development, improved education and recreation, and better housing for all.
The "Coalition" includes all of zip code 77045 and parts of zip codes 77035, 77047, 77053, and 77085.
